Why Your Beliefs About Healing Matter Most

Why Your Beliefs About Healing Matter Most

We all need inspiration from time to time and lately I’ve been finding it in presentations on YouTube. Trust me this is more uplifting than anything on TV. I’ve been studying A Course in Miracles and find it helpful to listen to various other students and teachers of the Course.

I stumbled across Alan Cohen’s presentation on What Makes Healing Happen and the principles he shared are really worth reflecting on.

So, what is our responsibility for healing in this world?

A Course in Miracles teaches that the only responsibility we have is the healing of our own mind. We live in a world of illusions based on fear. If we’re lost in illusion, stuck in pain, have given into fear, we can’t fulfill our purpose or be helpful to others.

We are all in need of healing. Here are some beliefs about healing to consider.

  • Healing and well-being are our natural state.

God’s will for each of us is perfect happiness. Spirit’s intention for you is wellness. You were created in the likeness of God. The Universe was created in abundance. We have to erase that part of our mind that accepts that there is some value in illness. We need to line up our mind with our divine grace of wellness. Whole, Loving, Perfect, & Complete.

Disease = dis-ease = dissed ease

With disease, we have rejected ease. We need to reclaim ease and line back up with spirit through relaxation, self-care, etc.

  • Everyone has equal access to healing.

No one is more special than anyone else. The ego is good at coming up with reasons for being ill. Spirit is not aware of those reasons. Purification of thought is needed first before healing can begin. You have to change your mind.

  • Anything can be healed.

The Course in Miracles states that there is no order of difficulty in miracles. Cancer is as healable as a cut finger. Love = healing. You need to seek and find the blocks to your awareness of love within and around you. We need to wake up and break free from illusions and release the shackles of the nightmare.

  • Healing is a choice.

We have a choice about everything. We often harbor negative beliefs below the surface that lead to illness and negative circumstances in our life.

Who is the physician? Only the mind of the patient himself/herself. The outcome is what he/she decides that it is. Special agents seem to be ministering to him/her. Yet they but give form to his/her own choice. He/she chooses them in order to bring tangible form to his desires. – A Course in Miracles

The result is the co-creation of the intention of the client and the intention of the doctor.

This puts the responsibility for the healing in the mind & heart of the patient.

  • Healing is achieved through alignment.

Disease is caused by misalignment. The key is to realign ourselves with Spirit (however you refer to the Divine).  Integrity is when the life you are living on the outside matches who you are on the inside. The larger the gap between the two, the more pain you will experience.

Disease has a dense heavy vibration. The key is to align with your belief in how to heal.

When you are working with a healing method you believe in, you will get healed. If you don’t believe in it, you won’t.

You want to work with people that represent your intentions. Real healing occurs from the inside out. Quit depending on someone else to be responsible for your healing, be willing to do it yourself through alignment with Spirit and co-creation with practitioners who reflect your beliefs.
