Polycystic ovary syndrome (also referred to as "polycystic ovarian syndrome" or "polycystic ovary disease") is a condition that causes numerous small cysts to develop in the ovaries. The most common hormonal disorder for women of childbearing age, polycystic ovary syndrome can lead to infertility in some cases. PCOS, as it is currently defined, is an umbrella diagnosis that encompasses a variety of underlying physiological drivers. In other words, PCOS is not one disease, and that’s why it’s such a confusing diagnosis. Some people benefit from the standard PCOS treatment, but others do not.
