What is PCOS & How Can It Be Treated Naturally?

What is PCOS & How Can It Be Treated Naturally?

Polycystic ovary syndrome (also referred to as "polycystic ovarian syndrome" or "polycystic ovary disease") is a condition that causes numerous small cysts to develop in the ovaries. The most common hormonal disorder for women of childbearing age, polycystic ovary syndrome can lead to infertility in some cases. PCOS, as it is currently defined, is an umbrella diagnosis that encompasses a variety of underlying physiological drivers. In other words, PCOS is not one disease, and that’s why it’s such a confusing diagnosis. Some people benefit from the standard PCOS treatment, but others do not.

Signs of polycystic ovary syndrome include:

  • irregular periods (including infrequent menstruation or prolonged periods)
  • excess facial and body hair
  • severe acne
  • decreased breast size
  • infertility

Since polycystic ovary syndrome can lead to a number of serious complications (including increased risk of endometrial cancer, infertility, high blood pressure, and diabetes), it's important to consult with a Practitioner that knows what they’re talking about. There are more holistic approaches to helping with PCOS. Join Integrative Nutritionist Elizabeth McMillan, of Rose Wellness Center in Oakton, VA on September 2nd at 8pm for a webinar to learn more. She will also host a live Q&A session after to answer all of your questions.
