What Is Craniosacral Therapy & How Can It Help You?

What Is Craniosacral Therapy & How Can It Help You?
Are you worn out and stressed out from chronic pain? Is the chronic pain interfering with your day to day activities? Craniosacral therapy may be the answer you have been looking for.

Craniosacral therapy improves the flow of your cerebrospinal fluid by releasing pressure in the craniosacral system. This type of therapy cleans, protects, and nourishes your central nervous system and improves nerve conductivity. When the cerebrospinal fluid's flow is improved, your body is able to heal itself, and your functions are restored. (https://iacst.ie/craniosacral-system)

What is the Craniosacral System?
The craniosacral system is made up of the fluid and membranes that surround the spinal cord, brain, and bones of the skull, spine, and face. This system helps maintain the functions of the central nervous system and responds to things occurring in the body. Craniosacral therapy restores the immune system and brings balance to the body as it calms the autonomic nervous system. The autonomic nervous system controls the flight or fight response when you experience stress, illness, or trauma. Craniosacral therapy also helps balance your hormone levels and promotes a sense of well-being.

Craniosacral therapy has been approved for the following disorders:
  • Alzheimer's disease - A medical problem that affects thinking, behavior, and memory in patients. This dementia disease typically affects the elderly; however, it can affect individuals younger than 65 years old.
  • Autism - Autism causes repetitive behaviors and shying away from social situations. This mental health disorder is a neurodevelopmental condition that often shows up at birth; however, it may not be diagnosed until later in life.
  • Back and Neck Pain - Back and neck pain affects millions of Americans each year. According to the National Institutes of Health (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5440123/), sixty to eighty percent of adults will be affected by back pain, and twenty to seventy percent of adults will experience by neck pain.
  • Brain Injuries and Central Nervous System Disorders - Brain injuries and central nervous system disorders can affect a person's ability to function. Learning disabilities, chronic pain, memory loss, tremors, spasticity, and persistent headaches.
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia - Both chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia cause exhausting pain. When you suffer from one of these conditions, you will experience unrelenting fatigue that is not relieved even after a full night's sleep
  • Immune Problems - Immune issues can affect your body's ability to fight off illness and disease. Furthermore, when your immune system becomes compromised, systemic inflammation can occur.
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Chronic Stress - Stress disrupts multiple systems throughout the body and can increase the risk of illness and disease.
