The Wisdom of Uncertainty

The Wisdom of Uncertainty

For many people, these are unsettling times. You hear people talking about how damaging social isolation is and the news reports showing how many people have lost their jobs. People are grappling for a sense of security -government checks and small business loans.

What we have been given is a "pause" from our normal outer activity and everyday busyness -a time to reflect on how we are living -and if we choose to go a bit deeper -a time to reflect on our life purpose and direction. We now have more time to go inward and upward, to deepen our connection to our innermost Self and to hear and follow its guidance.

If you choose to rise above mass consciousness, you may actually be experiencing greater appreciation for beauty and nature, connecting with family and friends on a deeper level, exploring activities that you used to love but stopped for lack of time, discovering more about who you are, recognizing the light you share with others, reexamining your priorities, and taking a new look at what is important to you.

I've been trying to follow my intuition more this year and to be more spiritually aligned. I found myself revisiting the book by Deepak Chopra, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success. The 6th Spiritual Law of Success really seems applicable to consider in these times. This is the Law of Detachment.

The Law of Detachment is about giving up our desire for a specific result -but not to our intentions and desires. Deepak says our Attachment is always to symbols like cars, houses, money, clothes, etc. and is based on fear and insecurity.

He points out that people are also attached to the illusion of security. The need for security is based on not knowing the true Self. The true self/Higher Self is the consciousness that knows how to fulfill every need. The source of wealth and abundance and anything in the physical world is the true Self -yet many people are looking to the government, their jobs, their spouse, their parents and many other external sources for a sense of security.

He states so eloquently ...In detachment "lies the wisdom of the wisdom of uncertainty lies the freedom from our past, from the known, which is the prison of past conditioning. And in our willingness to step into the unknown, the field of all possibilities, we surrender ourselves to the creative mind that orchestrates the dance of the universe. With Detachment, there is freedom to create."

So in this current state of uncertainty, you can create anything you want. What are you going to do with this opportunity?

Deepak talks about how people who seek security chase it for a lifetime without ever finding it. He points out that Security can never come from money alone. Attachment to money will always create insecurity no matter how much money you have in the bank. Some of the people with the most money are the most insecure.

So certainty and the known, is just the stale repetition of outworn memories.Your torment then in the known is your Self left over from yesterday. There is no evolution in the past. Where there is no evolution, there is stagnation, entropy, disorder, and decay. Times of uncertainty foster creativity and innovation.

When you step into the unknown, you have excitement, adventure and mystery. You experience fun, exuberance and a zest for living.

Opportunities are contained in every problem that you have in your life. Every problem is the seed for some greater benefit in your life. When your preparedness meets opportunity, the solution will spontaneously appear. How are you using this time to prepare yourself for the opportunities that are presenting themselves?

I'm excited to hear what is emerging for you to create now. Please leave a comment below.
