5 Tips to Collaborate and Grow Your Business in 2021 and Beyond

As this year draws to an end, many of us are still in disbelief at this time in our history that we will all never forget called 2020.  Without a doubt, 2020 has been a year like no other. And, even though the words unprecedented and 2020 have been combined far too many times and overused repeatedly, this year has truly been beyond unprecedented.

From global pandemics to Presidential elections to natural disasters, there’s no need to re-hash all of the craziness that has happened this year. But, hopefully in between the stress, anxiety, fear, sadness, hardship, loss, turmoil and resentment, each and every one of you have been able to see a small glimmer of the silver lining. No matter how difficult 2020 may have been for you personally, it is important to find something to be thankful for and to count your blessings. Whether you’ve learned to start appreciating the small things in life, like a walk outside in the fresh air or family game night, our 2020 experiences are forever etched in our body, mind and spirit.

A new year brings fresh hope, promise and inspiration for the future. Our 2020 experience can help guide us into the new year with a different outlook, a new perspective and a new beginning. A new year also gives us the opportunity to tackle and accomplish new goals. From fitness goals, to business goals to personal finance goals, there are a myriad of different types of goals to achieve in a brand, new year. The process can seem daunting but our advice to you, here at Wellness Hub, is to take a deep breath and start with one goal at a time.  We are all in this together and with support and collaboration all things are possible.

2020 was a difficult year for many businesses, but a new year gives time to refocus energy and effort. It may seem more difficult to connect with customers and partners these days, but here are 5 tips to help inspire business growth in 2021 and beyond:

HOW TO GROW YOUR BUSINESS TIP #1:  ESTABLISH A PLAN YOU BELIEVE IN

As business owners, we must first believe in ourselves and our own talents before others will believe in us and our business. Knowing who you are as a company and how you want to be perceived by customers, the community, and collaborators is an important first step.

An approach that looks at the business as a whole and takes a more holistic approach prevents siloes that can block growth. Honing in on exactly what you plan to offer and how it can benefit the entire organization is vital to the success of any business. Focus is key. It’s better to do a few things well and excel at them then to do several things poorly. Identify what you do well and establish a plan that can guide you through 2021 and allow you to thrive in your community for years to come.

HOW TO GROW YOUR BUSINESS TIP #2: FIND YOUR PEOPLE THROUGH THE POWER OF POSITIVE NETWORKING

There’s an old adage that states “it’s not what you know, but who you know.” And, it’s true. People are a powerful resource and growing a strong, honest and sincere network will help grow your business in 2021. But, the connection needs to be deeper than a like on LinkedIn or a retweet on Twitter. Creating and maintaining meaningful relationships with people will help your business not only grow, but flourish.

Reach out and refresh old connections. Join associations, like Wellness Hub, to make new connections. Get the word out to grow your network and promote your business. Word-of-mouth promotion is free and is often the best form of advertising. Tell your friends, peers and family. The more people who know who you are and know what you stand for and believe in as a company, the better. You never know when a friend of a friend or the client of a partner can help you or when you can help them. In 2021, vow to make your business intentions known and reach as many people as possible through deep, honest connections. The effort you make towards cultivating relationships will positively impact your business and come back to you multiplied.

HOW TO GROW YOUR BUSINESS TIP #3: GAIN A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF THE MARKET

It’s important to understand who, else in the market, does what you do. Most business strategy books will tell you that in order to win customers and gain market share you must do things better, faster, and cheaper than the competition. But, if you have a solid foundation you will attract the right customers for your business. Instead of a constant struggle between you and the competition, take a different approach in 2021. Focus on growing your business, concentrating on your customers and building relationships to help your business be the very best it can be. Find your competitors, introduce yourself and find ways to collaborate, share best practices or create a partnership that does something good for the community.  Be unique, be creative, tell your story and that positive energy will help you capture the market.

HOW TO GROW YOUR BUSINESS TIP #4: CREATE A VISION OF THE PERFECT CLIENT

Once you have identified the vision of your perfect client you can devote energy to finding them. There are a number of ways to acquire new, organic customers, but it’s also important to take a deeper look into the customers that you currently have. From a business standpoint, “it can cost five times more to attract a new customer, than it does to retain an existing one.”1 Your existing customers are your customers for a reason. Identify ways to extend your reach to them because maintaining current relationships is important and you want their support in return.

Working through your partnerships and collaborations is another way to find clients and continue future business growth.  Make your intentions known throughout your support system to convey how you can help clients achieve a goal by working with your organization. The power of positive connections is an organic, sincere and honest approach to the success of your organization.

HOW TO GROW YOUR BUSINESS TIP #5: IDENTIFY YOUR PARTNERS AND HOW THEY CAN HELP

One person can not do it all. As a business owner, you already know this. It’s important to understand our limitations and convert them instead into unlimited possibilities. Through people and the power of connection and collaboration, we can accomplish greater things together. Create a network of people that can help you achieve success in growing your business and that you can help in return. For example, your business may need a more professional looking website, but web design may not be in your wheelhouse. But, one of your clients may be an expert and willing to offer a trade for services. Working together with our partners, can allow all of us to better accomplish our goals.

If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s to go with the flow, learn to adapt, realize that things may not go as planned. And, most importantly to always have plan b through z in your back pocket.
